The Aim of the Program
The High Performance Football Development Program has been established to develop and deliver a specialist coaching unit in consultation with the Football Federation South West to provide a sound technical foundation for male and female players between the ages of 5 and 17 years old. This has been developed as an individual based squad program and is independent from any Club involvement. Players simply receive ‘extra’ coaching to supplement Club training and this has been introduced to replace the Football West Academy in the South West Region. We are now at the next phase of the Program and are excited to extend the age groups further to create an underpinning program for all interested players turning six to eight in 2010 (born 2002 to 2004).
As with any learning environment, building sound learning blocks is the key to developing the skills required to move forward. The program is designed to give young players a sound technical base in a structured and appropriate manner, with focus on making each session challenging, varied and fun. This provides a perfect opportunity for fast progression whilst instilling in the players ‘good habits’ thus developing competent players in the future.
Selection Aim
There is no assessment and all players are invited to join the program. It is however, our primary objective to align each individual into a group that best suits their ability level, particularly with regard to technique and coachability. As players develop differently, the program has been designed to suit the individual by creating a structured pathway to help the player progress accordingly.Training Days
