Capel 6 vs BSN Sharks 1

Saturday saw Capel host Busselton Soccer Club in the under 11’s. Both teams came out of the blocks pumped up for their final group game of the season.

After a shaky start (probably due to Busselton’s pressure) the Wolves soon consolidated their position and began to control the game. Having another best on ground performance goalkeeper Jack Herbert was rock solid pulling off some wonderful saves. He was helped by a defense which went from strength to strength as the game progressed.

Midfielders: Rachel Rance, Claire Kelly-Gardiner, and Courtney G, fought tenaciously for possession and with Josh Lewis Taylor Barr and Daniel Lewis all scoring the game ended with a pleasing 6-1 result. The Wolves showed that they will not be easy beats as the competition hots up now, with the top five teams playing against each other in the next few weeks.

Well done guys and keep up the level of intensity and commitment you have shown so far. Thanks Busselton for a fair and enjoyable game.

Capel 4 v Magaret River 0

On a beautiful morning for soccer, Capel Wolves hosted Margaret River at Churchill Park in Busselton. Within the first few minutes it became clear that both sides were evenly matched, with many furious tackles and driving runs. However Capel soon gained the upper hand and started to control play with Daniel Lewis scoring one of his two goals for the day.

With the game evenly poised, Wolves keeper Jack Herbert launched himself to his right to brilliantly save a Margret River shot. This then lifted the benchmark and the rest of the team responded to assert their dominance. Krystal Stewart made the most of a goal mouth scramble to score her first goal and Joshua Lewis also netted the ball at the death for a well deserved 4-0 result. The Wolves defense again stood tall with Reegan Ingram (man of the match) playing a decisive role as right back.  All up a great game and well fought by both sides.

GMAS Vipers 1 V Duns. Rovers 6

The Vipers took a little warming up after a busy week but still managed to pull out some great kicks and 1 on 1 contests when it was needed. The Rovers kept the lead but not without getting a taste of what the Vipers are capable of. Great running from the mid-field and defender players who kept up the chase with enthusiasm.

The stikers were kept busy also, making some great shots at the goals that "just missed". Alistair shone through, scoring 1 goal for the Vipers. A great effort Vipers against another great team.

Goals: Alistair Wood 1
Best on Field:Ben Hodder, Katrina Breen, Alistair Wood

Dunsborough Rovers 2 v Vasse Hawks 5 : Sat 29/05/10

It was a game of halves and resolute defense when the Rovers hosted the Hawks at Our Lady of the Cape Primary School. On a pitch that had certainly seen some traffic, Hawks dominated the first half and through some creative forward moves went to the break 5-0.

To the Rovers credit, they fought back during the second half scoring twice. However the Hawks defensive line stood firm to see a 5-2 win in a game where all goals were scored at one end.

Somer Palandri was outstanding in defense all day. Jai Dredge showed some clever skills whilst seeming to be everywhere and Tyler Atkinson was brilliant in goals with his keeping ‘decision making’ a highlight for much of the match.

Congratulations to both sides on a terrific game.

Busselton Sharks 1 V GMAS Vipers 10

Wow! What a game. GMAS played well from the start and really showed a brilliant team effort. Travis started in goals and with a "rock stong" defense line consisting of Brooke, Liam, Ben and Georgia the Vipers kept the upper hand.

The mid-field players, William, Nick and Zac provided stong support to the defenders and with some fancy foot-work and great running skills kept the pressure on. Continued teamwork throughout the game provided fantastic goal scoring opportunities. Team strikers Alistair, Jack and Katrina were kept busy and relished in their goal kicking. Jack was able to show off his remarkable ball skills which he used to great advantage.

The Vipers played a fantastic game winning 10 goals to 1. A GRAND team effort! Goals: Jack 7, Alistair 1, Katrina 1, Georgia 1 Best on Field: Whole Team!

Capel 13 v Cornerstone 0

Capel under 11’s hosted Cornerstone on a cold overcast morning on Saturday. Right from the kick off the Wolves made their intentions known with pressure and tackling an early highlight. Within minutes Daniel Lewis scored (the first of his 5 goal haul) to round off a great attacking move.

Not to be outdone his fellow striker Taylor Barr was also soon on the scoreboard and continued to impress with penetrating runs to finish with a four goal haul.

But by far the highlight of the game was a well worked passage of play down the left resulting in a pinpoint pass across the box, to where Douwe Rupke had run into the back post position from where he drilled the ball into the top right corner of the net.

Our strikers were well supported by an energetic midfield and rock solid defense. In the 13-0 result keeper Jack Herbert rarely touched the ball.  Although a great result for Capel, we give credit to Cornerstone who never during the whole game dropped their level of enthusiasm or sportsmanship.

Well done guys, you were worthy opponents!

Vasse Hawks V GMAS Vipers

A cold and rainy morning and the GMAS Vipers slowly settled into their game. A strong forward line and good goal kicking from Vasse kept them in the lead. The Vipers clawed 2 goals back in the first half but the Hawks maintainrd their advantage.

Some good defense from the Vipers and quick strikers saw 2 more goals from GMAS in the second half. A gutsy effort with some great runs but not enough to beat Vasse. Final score Vasse 7 GMAS 4.

A great team effort. Stand out players: Riley, Ben and Claudia. Best on Field: Liam Fellows

Marg. River V GMAS Vipers

Pumped up and confident the Vipers quickly settled in for an exciting first half of soccer. With the defense line showing their "long-kick" skills the midfield and forward lines followed through.

With some great runs and 1:1 contests the Vipers delivered 2 goals. Impressive footwork and ball skills provided a great show. Strong defense work from the goal keepers meant M/R were unable to score. M/R clawed 1 goal back in the second half but the Vipers followed with another 2 goals of their own. Strong defense and a grand team effort showed of the skills of the Vipers. A great 4 goal win!

Capel Wolves vs Vasse Falcons

In our second home game for the season, a good day weather wise, the Capel Wolves gave a great effort against the stronger Vasse Falcons. New comer Mathew Cream played well, Isobel Barr showed great ball skills, Rani McMillan and Rhianna Downie played consistently well as did Jessica Mack, Olivia Warchol & Natasha Warchol.

Emma May had a great game in defence and later in midfield. Corey Carrol played in goals the first half of the game and then had a go as Striker in the second half, a good effort by Corey. Rhianne McGillivray played in goals for the second half and did really well at getting her hands to the ball and some great goal kicks too.

Well done Capel Wolves!

Vasse Hawks v Capel Wolves

Both teams came out firing early in the game with some fast breaks and solid sweeping defence.

After 10 min scores were locked at 1-1. It was at this point that the young Hawks went up a gear or two with clever passing and ball handling skills a feature. This applied even more pressure to a solid Capel defence and by half time Vasse had slotted two more home to have a handy 3-1 buffer.

This pressure intensity continued in to the second half and 3 more goals saw the Hawks finish the game 6-1.

Dunsborough Daredevils 4 v Busselton Devils 2

Dunsborough Daredevils have won second place in the Under 11 LNJSA premiership with a skilful and gutsy 4-2 win against Busselton Devils in a fine display of foot ball at Dunsborough Playing Field on Saturday.

The Daredevils who were second by a single point to their Busselton rivals before the game knew a draw would not be enough and they needed a win to secure the runners up position. Rarely the underdog, the Daredevils found extra determination and  energy and showed just how good they are when they play as one.

The Devils, who also played a brilliant game never, looked out of it and fought hard all the way, snatching goals through hard won opportunities and passion. They had just as many shots on goal as the Daredevils and equal possession, but the safe hands of Tom Brown denied them the goals they so desperately sought.

Dunsborough, were first to score through the golden boot of Marcus Lazic after a brilliant series of passes.

MR Lightning 1 drew GMAS Sharks 1

In a thrilling encounter marked by outstanding goal keeping and fierce one-on-one battles, the two teams gave everything in this last league game of the season. GMAS was only able to field eight players, and the visiting Margaret River team agreed to equal the number.

GMAS started strongly and came to several formidable opportunities only to be denied by Declan Bottomley. On the opposite half, Creed McKinnon's numerous attempts on goals were thwarted by a very alert and brave GMAS keeper. Caitlin Baxter enjoyed another outstanding game as did Hamish White. The two teams will meet again this Saturday as they were drawn against each other for the Knock-Out Cup quarter finals.

Dunsborough Daredevils 4 v Busselton Angels 0

After a hard fought and exciting previous fixture versus the all girl Angels team, the Daredevils knew this match was going to be a tough encounter against a worthy and determined opponent. By the looks of the exhausted smiles on the faces of players from both sides after the game, the match lived up to expectations.

The Daredevils were forced to bring out their very best performance to withstand the pressure the Angles put on their defence early in the game. Some hard but fair bumps were seen as players from both side put in that extra effort to be first to the ball and gain possession.

It was a race to try to gain the early advantage and the Angels, physically bigger and every bit as skilful as the Daredevils, looked like going ahead a number of times but for fine work in the backline.

Dunsborough’s defence worked tirelessly and have jelled around new sweeper Eli Van Herwaarde to form a formidable barrier for opposition attackers. Tom Widlake is playing in the best form of his career in right back and is like a brick wall to incoming attackers.
